Charleston, SC was a hot spot on my list for a quick getaway for the last few months. I don’t know what it is but I’m oddly just drawn to that place. This past week, my husband and I went back and forth on some plans to get out of town and do something for Davis’ Spring Break. The older boy’s Spring Break was a few weeks back in March in Texas so we didn’t want to do too much…but definetly something with a change of scenery. We decided to make the four hour drive to Charleston from Atlanta.
The ride in started during the wee hours of the morning and was pleasantly peaceful and chill with the two littles sleep and looking flipping cute in their matching Superman tees I scored at Target a while back for $2 dollars each! As my stomach began to demand food and my head equally demanding a cup of coffee we made our first stop to grab some breakfast.
Let the peak in our adventure in begin.
The noises from Davis’ videos are now playing in the background, we’re rationing the grub for the kids and the ride continues. My husband Lanier, really had me cracking up on the way in with his fascination with animals in fields…(he’s from the North) and we both couldn’t get over how it really looked like not only a different place but a different era…seriously it felt like we were back in time with the older homes and the downtown areas of these little itty bitty towns. I mistaken a field of goats as dogs and so many other funny moments…too many to recount them all got us down the road entertained and in good spirits. Most of the way my comments were, “This would be awesome for a photoshoot”, Babe Wow, do you see that rundown building!?…I would love to stop there and take a picture!” Hahaha. After many comments and wide eyed looks out the window, my husband finally stops, u-turns and calls my bluff on taking advantage of the scenery. We ended up at an old, rundown Gulf gas station and it was a quick impromptu road side photoshoot taking place. My husband is really the best! I didn’t have an outfit planned for this stop…I got out unwrapped my hair, threw on some gloss, smoothed out my little dress (love it!) and started posing.
Let me pencil this on my bucket-list and check it off! Lol!
There will be more photos + thoughts from our road trip to Charleston up tomorrow, so come back here then! Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever been Charleston,SC and what you think of this impromptu road side photoshoot!
